Crown Royal Regal Apple Cocktail Competition

Following the release of Crown Royal’s Regal Apple Whiskey, seven Charleston bartenders were invited to participate in a creative cocktail challenge. Ryan Welliver- Cocktail Club, Jim McCourt- Prohibition, Keith Clarry- Bohemian Bull, Coleman McCoy- Hilton Garden Inn, Ernest- California Dreaming, Ryan Wise- O’brion’s James Island, and Joe Joe- Burwell’s Stone Fire Grill were challenged to create their own cocktail recipe with only one stipulation: the cocktail must include at least 1 oz. of Crown Royal Regal Apple.

A group of judges traveled to each participating establishment to taste test each bartender’s beverage. On the day of the Crown Royal Regal Apple Pub Crawl, the specialty cocktails were also made available for a special price for the public to judge as well.

Cocktail Club’s very own Ryan Welliver won the competition with his inventive Regal Apple cocktail.




1 oz. Crown Royal Regal Apple
Muddled Granny Smith Apples
¼ oz. Averna
½ oz. Brinson Apple Liqueur
½ oz. Lemon Juice
½ oz. Honey Syrup
2 Dashes of Angostura Bitters
Muddle the above, shake and strain into a separate shaker
Add 1 egg white- then dry shake
Garnished with fresh nutmeg and an apple ball
