BB&T CHARLESTON WINE + FOOD FESTIVAL: MIXOLOGY COMPETITION

The BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival (CWFF) kicked off festival events last Thursday with Art in a Glass: Cocktails + Canvas at Republic downtown. Guests were invited to taste the finalists of the Mixology Competition’s cocktails, before none other than Jeremiah Schenzel, was crowned the winner, by Gillian Zettler, the festival’s executive director.

The winning cocktail had to embody a DIY ingredient, aromatic elements, amazing garnish and a storytelling element. Jeremiah’s cocktail, called “My Two Pearls,” is a refreshing gin based cocktail, garnished with cucumber balls and an oyster leaf.  Each cocktail was ornamented with a tag, featuring a quote from some of the most influential people in the CWFF’s 10 year history. Not only did the taste wow the judges, but Jeremiah’s thoughtful story behind the cocktail helped to seal the deal. Enjoy “My Two Pearls,” the Official Cocktail of 2015 at the Opening Night Gala.
